Roamefy is a startup company developing a responsive trip itinerary planning website that leverages AI and users' social media to create personalized itineraries and one-click booking for any travel destination.

They approached my UX research and design team to clarify traveler needs by developing a persona, and streamline the onboarding and trip planning user flows based on our findings.

Problem

The current design is text heavy, lacked excitement from images.

• Our client intends to rely heavily on AI, so how do we still make an enjoyable design with interactive elements?

•  Current users are not booking through site- how can we increase conversion?

Objectives

•  Streamline designs from the onboarding to trip planning experiences.

•  Make itineraries editable

•  Create designs based on user needs

Outcome

• Added option to explore activities at destinations before trip dates are decided.

• Enhanced editing and booking user flows based off user needs and expectations.

Methods leveraged for this project

Existing Design

Roamefy's current design is text heavy, has few images, and lacks the ability to explore destinations without a time frame.

The original concept requires travel dates in order for a user to search for itinerary options.

Once a location and dates are entered, the user is brought to an itinerary page.

The suggested itinerary, or trip overview, is automatically broken down day by day with several activities suggested each day.

The current location, size, and color of the “Book” button is not intuitive or noticeable.

Once the “Book” button was pressed, the traveler was taken to the Cart.

Each itinerary item was organized by separate cards with actions to add or delete ticket events from the trip plan.

Traveler Insights

Research

My team and I conducted 8 interviews with a group of busy individuals, aged 25-50, who often lack the time to plan trips.

Competitive Analysis

We also compared the features of sites used by our interviewed subjects when planning trips.
